Viva launch is a teams add-on app that consolidates necessary data from existing apps into a clear roadmap, making onboarding very efficient.

Microsoft Viva had low adoption
80% of employees weren't using the ecosystem they had access to. The business goal was to increase Viva engagement and reduce time-to-productivity for new hires.

PROBLEM STATEMENT
How might we help new hires confidently navigate tools, content, and workflows through a centralized onboarding experience with the help of AI?
DESIGN ITERATIONS
V1: Focused views – One dashboard for tasks, team, and learning
The first version shows tasks with due dates and time estimates so users knew exactly what to do. Team contacts and learning resources lived in their own views, keeping things uncluttered. A progress bar at the top tracked overall onboarding progress.

V2: Faster onboarding with Copilot-powered onboarding through conversation
Testing showed us that V1 design caused fragmentation due to various tab views which resulted in constant finding and switching. In V2, I created a single scrollable view featuring the resources all prioritized on one screen. I added welcome notes for a human touch and sense of community.

After 3 rounds of usability testing, the final design brings all necessary touch points into one screen. Finding Tasks, answers, and scheduling, all through AI.

If there was more time, my next iteration focus would be to establish clearer visual hierarchy across dashboard modules and reducing cognitive overwhelm furthermore

Scope down early and save time
We spent many weeks on discovery research which could’ve been used to work on building edge cases instead.
Lock the constraints and metrics
Constraints play a big role in design direction. Assigning these early could have helped me to visualize clearly.
Test lo-fi earlier and more often
We had 10+ iterations in each version but a detailed testing would’ve helped with building detailed interactions.
